About the Fitness Council

The Fitness Council is leading our community in life-long physical activity.  We believe that it should be easy, safe, and fun to walk, bike, and be active in Jackson.  We pursue this goal through three programing areas:

    • Promoting Active Living, where biking, walking, and being active are a part of our daily routine.
    • Connecting people to a variety of physical activity resources.  Our Fitness Directory provides a great list of events and resources for getting active in Jackson, many of which are low- or no-cost.  Whether you want to paddle a kayak, find a group to walk with, or explore yoga, we can point you in the right direction.
    • Creating an environment where it is safe, easy and fun to get out and be active.  We support the community in building trails, adding bike lanes, adopting a Complete Streets policy, creating safe routes to school, and planning for recreational improvements.
